IF YOU HAD TO DEFINE ALL YOU DO IN A TITLE WHAT WOULD YOU SAY?

‘Not living a mediocre life’, or better still; ‘Living life’.

HOW DO YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PHILOSOPHY ABOUT BEING FIT AND HEALTHY?

Life indeed is a gift from God and is precious, so a good way to ensure optimum living of that life is by being fit and healthy. I believe it spreads across all spectrum of life, physically, financially, spiritually and mentally.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED WITH FITNESS AND WHEN?

Hmmm, I will say as far back as I can remember, in secondary school I was involved in 400metres, 100metres, 4x100metres, long jump and high jump. First Year University I was briefly involved in American football. During my master’s year at university, I represented my university in the jiu-jitsu Nationals UK and came out with a bronze medal. That being said, I can’t really give a definite answer as to when or how I started but it has been part of me. Funny story, the day I knew I could run fast was in secondary school inter-house sports preparation. Everyone had to participate, either you took part in some sort of sporting activity or you had to be part of the marching unit. For some reason, we found marching quite lame. When it was time to make a decision, I chose to run. I guess my legs held up lol, and that is how I avoided marching. Looking back, I'm not saying marching is still lame but saying running was a whole lot cooler. hahaha

HOW DO YOU CREATE TIME FOR FITNESS OUTSIDE YOUR CAREER AS A STRUCTURAL ENGINEER?

Honestly it is tough, but I guess it is a whole lot easier because I love it. So we’ve all got 24hours a day, I just choose to dedicate 30mins to an hour a day even if it means at 5am or at 10pm, every little helps. Obviously I am human and get fatigued at some point, I simply rest and get back on track.

WHATS THE BEST PART OF YOUR JOB AS A PERSONAL TRAINER AND FITNESS ENTHUSIAST?

The best part of the job is in two parts. Firstly it is having an opportunity to do what I love. The second part is being able to impact lives positively, deep down I believe this is one of my purposes on earth. Being able to motivate people to exercise, being able to push people to bring the best out of them, being able to improve ones self-confidence and esteem through their physical appearance and also helping people live a healthier life and possibly longer one. Too many people are dying young because of cardiovascular diseases which could have been avoided with a healthier lifestyle.
I tell most of my clients, if I am able to impact a 1000 lives with a healthier approach to life then I will leave this earth an even happier man.

        WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

Honestly, my inspiration comes from a lot of people. My dad for a start inspires me, he has been a dedicated tennis player for a better part of his life and he juggles it with an engineering job. I have also got people like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Simeon Panda, Dwayne Johnson, Serge Constance, Serena Williams, Usain Bolt, Vanessa Kassian(my girlfriend), that is to say a few, the list can keep going on but to better understand, I am inspired by people that have the ability to push themselves to achieve greatnessMost importantly, I get true inspiration from God.

WHATS YOUR TYPICAL DAY LIKE OR A PERFECT DAY IN YOUR WORLD?

A perfect day for me will be, an early start, say 5am out of bed and have a quick workout before getting ready for work. Be extremely productive in the office. I would contact my clients to get updates from them and motivate them where necessary. Run through a couple of meals during the day, say between 5-7 meals. Head off to a client’s home for a personal training session or have my own workout session, talk to my loved ones during my free time.

WHAT ARE YOUR REGULAR MEALS LIKE AND YOUR CHEAT MEALS?

Well on average, between 5-7 meals a day, what I eat is dependent on my activities for the day. When I have an intense workout and also have 3-4 clients on the same day then you can imagine I would want to up my carbohydrates a bit to increase energy levels. Or whenever I train clients who are on a weight loss program, I would increase my protein intake to retain my muscle mass. But in all, I watch my portion sizes per meal.
Cheat meals are the fun part, mainly on Sundays, I just eat what I am craving at that moment. Doesn’t have to be healthy hence the name, but most importantly in moderation.

WHAT ARE MAJOR THINGS THAT MAKE YOU HAPPY?

Getting better at a particular workout.
Helping people in need.
Seeing my fitness clients achieve their desired physique.
Learning a new technique in martial arts.
Getting a new gadget, I am a bit of a geek when it comes to technology.
Positively adding value to lives.
Sightseeing and travelling.
Worshipping God.

WHAT MAKES YOU DIFFERENT FROM EVERY OTHER PERSONAL TRAINER AND FITNESS ENTHUSIAST?

For a start, I am very passionate about fitness, it is really not about the money, I get satisfaction seeing my clients improve. When it comes to intensity in workout, well you can be sure of it. Professionalism is also a key. There are a bunch of other things which differentiate me from others but I wont be revealing them because those are my selling points. Business strategies 😉

DO YOU PREFER TO TRAIN MALES OR FEMALES?

There isn’t a preference as to whom I train. I just like to see the determination and effort put into the programme. That being said, I tend to have had more female clients in the past and I will like to believe that is as a result of females being naturally more conscious of their physical appearance than the male counterparts.

WHAT TIPS OR TRICKS DO YOU HAVE FOR EVERYONE READING THIS?

To achieve your desired physique, proper exercise and healthy eating is recommended, but you cannot achieve your goals if you aren’t consistent. Consistency is key.
Secondly, you will get to a point where you aren’t really improving anymore (plateau), simply alter your routine and continue.
