Reasons why doctors seek opportunities abroad.

People keep wondering why every doctor wants a better opportunity. It is bad enough that you have to spend 6 years or more in Medical school and wish for a good life after the hassles and stress of getting your degree. Upon graduation, you only realise that it doesnt even get any better. You finally get to practice and you either get less of what you bargained for or are stressed beyond living. The only option left is to look for a way out which makes most doctors look for better opportunities.

Here are few reasons.

A working system. A system that works, where everyone knows what to do and when to do them. There is a job for everyone. Asides the doctors and nurses, everyone has a role to play not over burdening anyone.

Good Results. The main goal is to treat patients and make them get better. With a good system, you get to see good results. You appreciate your job even more because you actually see your patients recover.

No discrimination. No one looks down on anyone regardless of what job role they have because everyone is as significant as the other. The team work basically gets the job done.

A comfortable environment. Apart from making patients comfortable, you work in a comfortable environment, one that comes with good quality of life.

Quality training. The system is put in place to make sure everyone works safe and knows what to do when the need arises. If unsure, there are guidelines and protocols to follow as well as a training body that checks your competence every now and then.

Timely pay. We all want our rewards coming at the right time especially after a month of hard work. There are no delays. Some people may think some countries do not meet up to the standard pay, be well assured that whatever you are paid is sustainable at least until you move up the ladder which comes with increased pay or until you find a suitable place to give you what ever pay you desire.

Law. There is a law which is in place to ensure everyone delivers quality care.

I have come to realise that as a doctor, you may not live a life of luxury, work when you wish or work at your pace but it all depends on every individual. Some see medicine as the only thing they find themselves doing, others see it as a means to an end. However you see it, always remember it is a sacrifice and you can make the best of it only if you want to.

Cheers
